A small, bubbling pool of mud at the beginning of San Andreas fault is causing concern. Officials say the muddy spring has been in existence since 1953, but it recently began moving and now poses a threat to man-made infrastructures. "It's a slow-moving disaster," Alfredo Estrada, Imperial County's fire chief and emergency services coordinator, told the LA Times.

2) 49ers cheerleader spotted kneeling during national anthem (Yardbarker):
During Thursday’s Raiders-49ers game, a cheerleader took a knee during the national anthem. It's the first time a NFL cheerleader has been seen participating in the protest.

A fisherman helped a humpback whale that was entangled in rope by climbing on the whale's back to free it, and we are amazed.

Blankets are left for homeless people during freezing temperatures
5) Indiana vending machine dispenses clean clothing and blankets to people without homes (Mental Floss):
Instead of candy bars and soda, a new vending machine in Indiana is stocked with clothing, socks, and blankets. The service was set up by a local fire department allowing people without homes to collect necessities discreetly no matter the time of day.
